Mrs. Alberta C. Fields Carroll passed away at her residence on October 16,2011 surrounded by her loving family. Her caring,
compassionate nature was displayed in the work she chose to do as an EMT in Yonkers,NY and as a certified MED Tech and
CNA in Newport News,VA She was committed to educational goals and received her High School diploma from the Newport
News Public School System and was enrolled in the nursing program at Thomas Nelson Community College at the time of her
illness. She adored her spouse and her children.
Survivors include her husband Larry Carroll, three daughters, Larissa D., Larrell L. Carroll,and Octavia D. Lewis; sons Craig R.
Lewis of Newport News and John H. Lewis of Richmond,VA; her mother, Mary Mickel Fields of New YorkCity, sister Marilyn
Fields of New York; brothers Donald Fields(Lori) Yonkers,NY, Luke Patterson(Candice) of Houston, Tx; grandchildren Rodney,
Akeelah, Zutavia, Josaih, and Kwaleek; her sisters in Christ, Gwendolyn Hillard(Tyrone), Lillian Cassaberry, Sarah
Sinclair(sister-in-law), all of New York; devoted friends Mrs. Shirley Loveless and Mrs. Elizabeth Gipson,and many other

illness.Mr. Brown was a veteran of the United States Army and served more than twenty-two years. He was
a gentleman who believed in caring for his family,his neighbors, and friends.He was a devoted husband,
father,and grandfather whose presence will be missed by all who were privileged to have known him.

Our beloved Milton Wallace Borum ,son of the late George and Bessie Borum, was called to Eternal Rest
on January 8,2012 .He was reared and educated in York County,VA., was a United States Army Reservist
for 17 years, and a retiree of the Newport News Shipyard with 25 years of dedicated service.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Mrs. Delores G. Borum; four children: Barbara Richardson (William) of
Haynes, Fla.,Cynthia Taylor( Luther) of Yorktown,VA.,Larry Caples, and Patricia Hughes( Roy)
of Newport News,VA., a special sister-in-law, Rev. Deloris Borum of Yorktown,VA., eleven grandchildren, seventeen
great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many other loving relatives and caring friends.

Mrs. Ever L. Dorsey, born September 18,1921 passed away peacefully at her home in Williamsburgand went to
see her God on Saturday January 14,2012.
Mrs. Dorsey lived in Alabama until the age of 15. She relocated with her family to Pittsburg, Pennsylvania where
she completed her Public School Education at Allderdice High School. She later met and married Fred Dorsey.
Ever and Col. Dorsey lived post World War II in Japan and France for many years. They later settled in Nassau
County, New York near the base where he was stationed. After Col. Dorsey's death, Mrs. Dorsey moved to
Williamsburg, VA. where she volunteered as a greeter at Williamsburg Community Hospital, was a active
member of Le Cercle
Charmant,Inc., and St. Martin's Episcopal Church. Auntie Ev, as she was affectionately
called,was a loving caregiver for six of her relatives over the years.
Mrs. Dorsey was preceded in death by her devoted husband Col. Fred Dorsey(Ret), her mother, Mattie Lou Ray,
and her younger sister, Doris, Drummond of California. She is
survived by her brother Edward D. Ray of Greensburg, Pa. and many nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.

William E. Humphrey passed away January 18,2012 surrounded by his loving family.He was the son of the
late James and Vera Caviness, was born in Portsmouth,VA. and was a 1968 graduate of I. C.Norcom
High School. In 1969 he joined the U.S. Army and began a career that extended over 22 years and included
three tours in Korea.He loved the military, served faithfully and was respected by those who served under his
direction .Medals he received include the Army Commendation,Army Achievement, Army Good Conduct,the
National Defense Service medal and others.
After retirement, he was employed by Shorewood Packaging as a Roll Stand operator.
On December 17,1982 he wed Della L. Moore; they settled in Newport News,VA and made a happy home
together, William was passionate about bass fishing and had received numerous trophies for catching
largemouth bass.
He leaves to cherish memories of him, his beloved wife of 29 years, Della L. Humphrey;one son, Jerry Driver,
a daughter, Phyliss Lee; a brother, James Caviness,Jr.; 8 grandchildren, one great grandchild,and
numerous other relatives.

Ruth M. De Palm, age 79, beloved wife and Mother passed at the Hospice House of Williamsburg on Wednesday,
February 8, 2012 following complications of a long endured illness.
She was born on January 14, 1933 in Tarboro, North Carolina to the late Richard Barnes and the late Lily Mae
Everett-Barnes. At the young age of 8, subsequent to the untimely passing of her mother, she was lovingly raised by
her late stepmother, Sara Sue Barnes.
Ruth graduated from Huntington High School in Newport News, Virginia and soon after married her husband of 58
years, Ramon Louis De Palm, Sr. A consummate wife and Mother, Ruth traveled with her family to destinations
stateside and abroad to include Germany, Italy, Japan, and Australia to name a few. After 22 years of dutiful service,
her husband retired from the U.S. Army and they made Williamsburg, Virginia their home.
Ruth mastered the talents of an accomplished seamstress, as well as that of a master lamp-maker for the
Williamsburg Pottery Factory. She was an especially gifted caregiver, who became affectionately known to some as
“Mother Dear”. However, it was her inherent love of children which made her become permanently known to most
as “Grandma D”.
Ruth will always be remembered for her self-sacrificing devotion and love, but especially for the goodness and
kindness of her heart which she poured out unceasingly to all. She will be especially missed as a confidant,
counselor, and mentor.
She is survived by her husband, Ramon Louis De Palm, Sr., three sons Ramon Louis De Palm II (Tammie Hamm
De Palm), Ricardo Johannes De Palm, and Tyrae Muir De Palm, and daughters, Ramona Ruth De Palm and
Romaigne Dorothea De Palm, and Sha’ron “Tiny” Finney.
Ruth was blessed with six grandchildren R.Jymmia Sho De Palm, Raigne Johanna De Palm, Gabriella Ruth Oviedo
De Palm (Ricardo), Stori Elan Brown, Rena Ruth Baldwin De Palm, Raimann Doroteos De Palm (Ramona) and
three great-granddaughters, Schuyler Elan Brown, Reyana Ruth Rorie, and Romaigne Dorthea Rorie, all of whom
she adored. She also leaves behind a host of relatives, extended family, and friends who loved and cherished her
for the testimony which was the fullness of her life.
